Malin ida eriksson

Ceramic artist based in Stockholm. Studio in G-studion, the old porcelain factory of Gustavsberg.

Malin Ida Eriksson is an artist working with clay. She has a research led practice where materiality is the focus with thoughts around the ephemeral, the passing of time and the transience of life.

In Eriksson's practice, she makes unfired ceramic vessels which are filled with ink during a performance. The vessels dissolve and the ink spreads over the paper surfaces on which they are placed. The random ink drawings - the result of the performance - are then used as sketches for three dimensional sculptures.

Malin Ida Eriksson's work blurs the lines between ceramics, drawing, sculpture and performance - flowing from three dimensions to two dimensions and then back again.

By moving through these material dimensions Eriksson's practice can be seen as a meditation on the poetics of impermanence and mutability.
